Woman shaken by robbery attempt

POLICE today appealed for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Chippenham on Wednesday night.

A 40-year-old woman was walking near the junction of the Bath Road Industrial Estate and Bath Road when a man approached her from behind and tried to steal her mobile phone.

He fled empty-handed, leaving his victim unhurt but shaken by the incident.

The robber is described as a black man, wearing a black hoodie and dark clothes. He ran off in the direction of the Pheasant pub.
