Crackdown targets graffiti gang

From the Wiltshire Times, first published Friday 2nd Feb 2007.

A NEW crackdown on anti-social behaviour in north Wiltshire has been launched.

A new officer has been appointed by a partnership that includes councils and community organisations with the aim of curbing problems across the district.

Ian Whiteway's first campaign involves tracking down the gang of graffiti artists responsible for spraying LCC across 30 locations in Chippenham.

Ian, 37, a karate instructor and former police officer, said the graffiti had been found in London Road, Larkham Rise and had spread to other places including the picturesque Baydons Meadow.

He added that the grafitti clampdown would be the first of many campaigns in north Wiltshire to reduce anti-social behaviour.
