It's hooray Henley

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Monday 4th Apr 2005.

CALNE gained a narrow 14-10 victory over Calne in their Dorset & Wilts Division 1 North encounter.

In a tense but open derby match, Calne handed first-team call-ups to Mike Robison, Max Whiston, Mark Edwards, try scorer Alan Henley and young second row Tim Hector.

They had to withstand a fightback from their hosts before wrapping up the points, though.

Fly-half Paul Jenkins used the wind to keep Westbury pegged back in the early exchanges but Calne found themselves struggling in the set pieces.

The visitors, though, grabbed the first try as full-back Lewis Baker released Henley and the winger made it over the line, along with two defenders.

Skipper and scrum-half Andy Donegan then slotted two penalties after the forwards began to gain a foothold.

Westbury countered with a try, but another Donegan penalty put the visitors 14-5 up at the break.

Westbury cut the deficit again with a second try, but Calne refused to surrender their lead further.
