Wiltshire solicitor to head law body

From the Amesbury Journal, first published Thursday 5th Aug 2004.

WILLIAM Wyldbore-Smith, of Wiltshire solicitors Wood Awdry & Ford, has been elected president of the Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Incorporated Law Society (GWILS).

He succeeds Christopher Peak and will hold the office for a year.

GWILS, the local law society for solicitors in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, was established in 1817 to support and represent the interests of solicitors across the two counties.

Mr Wyldbore-Smith believes that its work is important both to the profession and to the public, as it works to ensure that justice is accessible to everyone through an independent legal profession.

"I aim to keep GWILS an effective, useful and representative local law society for our entire professional community in the two counties," said Mr Wyldbore-Smith.

"I am keen to do what I can to help overcome barriers to communication which afflict our profession and encourage mutual understanding and respect between members."
