Group to be forum for finance experts

From the Amesbury Journal, first published Thursday 5th Aug 2004.

LEE Blunden, finance director of national car park operator Britannia Parking, is to head a new group for finance professionals working in business and industry in the south.

Set up as part of the Southern Society of Chartered Accountants (SOSCA), which has members in south Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, the group will provide a forum for technical discussion and offer members professional development and social events.

"Chartered accountants working in practice have the support of their firms," said Mr Blunden. "But those in business can often feel isolated from others in the profession.

"Part of the reason I became involved with the SOSCA business group was to learn and exchange ideas, make new contacts and to be part of the process of defining career development."

Mr Blunden is keen that the group should encourage a healthy work-life balance.

This balance is reflected in future events, which include a briefing on disclosure and intellectual property rights by specialists from the Institute of Business & Law at Bournemouth University, and a visit to Ringwood Brewery.
