Solicitors who aim to become a brand apart

TRIUMPH, Dettol, Finish and Mr Sheen are just some of the world-famous brands from Swindon that a legal firm has taken up the cudgels for.
Thring Townsend, which has offices in Swindon, has established a brands team and is already working for Triumph, which is based in Groundwell, and Reckitt Benckiser, which has its marketing headquarters in Swindon.
The nine-strong team is also working alongside Thring Townsend's existing commercial law team.
Its branding work includes protecting intellectual property rights, product liability, advertising, packaging and labelling.
Brands team leader John Davies said: "A brand was traditionally seen as purely visual a logo or a trademark that identified a product or service. Today, it can be a product, a name, a colour, even a sound. Whatever it is, it has cost the owner a lot of money."
