GAZETTE & HERALD: CHILDREN will be able to design their own superhero or pick up some gardening tips by going along to a special summer school at Borough Parade, Chippenham.
Staff from Ottakar's bookshop and Littlewoods store will host workshops at the Neeld Hall on August 19.
The summer school will be split into a morning and afternoon session, with both classes suitable for children aged six to 11.
The sessions are designed to entertain children during the school holidays and centre manager Lionel Dix said they were a way for stores to give something back to their community.
"The classes will be great fun for the children, but also very informative, allowing them to explore a range of skills and make new friends with similar interests," said Mr Dix.
The first class will be a superhero workshop, hosted by Ottakar's, and running from 10am to 11am, when children will get to design their own superheroes, and even make superhero puppets.
The afternoon session will offer children a look into the world of plants, as Littlewoods' staff present their gardening workshop.
Running from 2pm to 3pm, the class will take children through the basics of potting and displaying plants.
Mr Dix added: "This is the first time Borough Parade has hosted an event of this type, and anticipation is growing all the time.
"I'm sure it will prove to be a huge success, paving the way for similar events in the future."
The classes are free but available on a first come, first served basis and numbers are limited.
Enrolment leaflets are available at Littlewoods or Ottakar's.
Alternatively, places can be booked by calling (01743) 875000.
