Tribute paid to pub retailer

MORE than 1,000 mourners - including several hundred people from the brewing, pub and wine industries - have paid tribute to Christopher Pope, the former chairman of Dorset pub retailer Eldridge Pope, who died in March at the age of 67.
Among those who attended the memorial service in Sherborne Abbey last month were his colleagues from Eldridge Pope, 25 master brewers and other mourners representing the organisations which Mr Pope had been involved with, or of which he became the president or chairman.
