Club to hear decorator's story

From the Amesbury Journal, first published Wednesday 2nd Jun 2004.

BUSINESS networking club Ambassadors welcomes Simon Tubb to its next business breakfast, at the Grasmere House Hotel in Harnham tomorrow.

Mr Tubb started his painting and decorating business at the age of 18, having worked at the weekends through his sixth form years.

It grew to two vans and seven men just before the recession, at which point he took three years out and went to stage school, continuing his decorating work in his holidays.

Mr Tubb then went back to the business full time and will tell members how he has not looked back since.

Last month, the speaker was Ian Hunter of Quay Asset Management, an independent financial adviser partnership.

Mr Hunter's talk was on pensions.

He explained there were currently eight different tax regimes covering pensions, but from April 2006, these were being swept aside and there would be one set of rules for everyone.
