Bowls club facts

Please note some factual inaccuracies in the Gazette's report on Ramsbury Bowls Club's planning application.

Coun Findlay did not say the club has lottery funding for the project. As far as I am aware it has not, although perhaps Coun Cummins knows something the club has not made known to the parish council.

The site at Whittonditch which the parish council has been actively promoting is, according to the English Bowls Association, big enough for a green on which County and International matches could be played.

Mrs Findlay did not say that the site is too small.

The parish council has remained sympathetic to the retention of a facility for bowls in the village but we, the district council's planning officers and the district councillor are also aware of the possible consequences of a breach of the northern boundary of the limits for development ­ something which seems to have escaped the district council planning committee.
