Youth is given police caution

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Thursday 21st Mar 2002.

A TEENAGER has received a caution from police after he was found with a small quantity of cannabis in Aldbourne on Friday following an incident in which one of the village library windows was smashed.

Police were called after a stone was thrown through one of the windows in the library in The Square at about 8pm.

Residents who reported the incident said they saw two youths in light clothing running away from the area.

PC Richard Oakman and PC Ivor Noyce attended and during their inquiries in the village centre spoke to a number of young people. One 19-year-old youth was searched and a small quantity of cannabis was found.

Sgt Martyn Sweett said the youth was cautioned because it was a first offence.
