YOUNG fly-half Mike Baxter grabbed a total of 26 points as Wootton Bassett 2nds continued their fine form with a superb 41-40 victory over Cheltenham North 2nds.
Bassett played with the disadvantage of a smaller pack but used their youth and speed in the backs to excellent effect as they edged home in a point-laden encounter .
Baxter's points haul included a hat-trick of tries, a penalty and four conversions.
The other Bassett scores came from inside centre Ben Baily, scrum-half Edwin Verplank and wing Dave Williams, who all scored a touchdown apiece.
Skipper Gary Mander said "The Cheltenham team had a stronger set of forwards, so they dominated in the set pieces.
"But we used the ball very well in the backs and used our supreme youth and pace to run around the defence''
