Private collectors show off their masterpieces

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Tuesday 29th Oct 2002.

AUTUMN: IMPORTANT works of art are going on show at the Holburne Museum, in Bath, this autumn.

The loan exhibition, sponsored by Sotheby's and organised by the museum in conjunction with the Historic Houses Association, will display tax exempt works of art.

The exemption scheme has operated for over one hundred years, ensuring that important works of art have been kept in this country when they might otherwise have been sold abroad.

The works that make up the `In The Public Eye' exhibition are all on loan from private collections in the west country.

Antonio Canaletto's City Of London From The Terrace Of Somerset House is one of the works to go on view.
