Patient thieves steal charity box

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Friday 3rd Aug 2001.

CALLOUS thieves stole a donation box from St Thomas More's Church in Market Street, Bradford on Avon, last Sunday.

The theft of the three-foot long metal alms box took place between 3pm and 9pm. Thieves entered the front porch of the church and unbolted the box from the wall.

PC Shaun Thomas, of Bradford on Avon Police, said: "It must have taken the thieves some considerable time to unbolt it from the wall."

PC Thomas said that the box was virtually empty but the box itself was worth about £100.

Anyone who saw people in the porch area of the church on Sunday is being asked to contact Bradford on Avon Police on (01225) 862222.
