Look, it's Bill or is it Nigel?

From the Amesbury Journal, first published Thursday 19th Jul 2001.

HEARING that Bill Wyman was hobnobbing with fellow Sixties' rocker Tich in the bar at Salisbury City Hall after the former Rolling Stone had claimed he was too busy to meet her was a bitter disappointment for fan Janet Durbidge.

But two weeks after the letdown, Mrs Durbidge, of Belle Vue Road, Salisbury, discovered that she was the latest in a long line of people to be caught out by Salisbury's very own Wyman lookalike.

Nigel Dixon, of Idmiston, is not only the same age as the famous rocker but also shares his talent for playing bass guitar.

He was attending the City Hall gig by Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings when he spotted his old friend Tich, famous colleague of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky and Mick.

The two had started out playing in local bands at the same time and they still get together several times a year to play pub gigs with their scratch band, appropriately named Itch.

This week the Journal introduced Mrs Durbidge to Mr Dixon and she laughed: "He is a good likeness. All he needs is a pair of shades."
