BRITISH servicemen are to be given an anthrax vaccine produced at Porton Down.
The Centre for Applied Microbiology and Research (CAMR) will be supplying the vaccine to the Ministry of Defence.
The importance of the vaccine was highlighted during the Gulf conflict when it was feared that chemical weapons containing anthrax could be used on allied forces, leading to infections of the potentially fatal disease.
The announcement that CAMR will be supplying the vaccine follows two years of intensive work by staff.
